The heavy fog along the coast of Peru on which plants depend for their moisture. It prevails from May to October up to a height of a hundred feet.

Example usage: I have described, in Lametherie's 'Journal de Physique' the application (alluded to in the text) of the magnetic inclination to the determination of latitude along a coast running north and south, and which, like that of Chili and Peru, is for a part of the year enveloped in mist ('garua').
